Frequently Asked Questions

What type of services do you provide?

I provide individual and couples counselling and psychotherapy. Please navigate to the Services page for further context.

How long is a standard session?

Sessions are usually 1 hour long and are scheduled once a week or every other week.

What’s the best way to choose a counsellor?

It can be challenging to find a counsellor with whom you feel sufficiently comfortable and safe to share your struggles and experiences. There are many options to choose from, and counsellors have a broad range of training, experience, and approaches. Perhaps you feel like you’ve tried everything and ‘been there, done that.’

If you are interested in a client- and relationship-centred approach that aims to support change and promote healing by helping you to explore your challenges or problems and build your resources and strengths, then I would be happy to work with you.

In my experience, an initial conversation by phone or in person can help determine if my approach is the right fit for you. I am pleased to offer a complimentary 20 minute consultation to facilitate this.

Do I need a referral from my doctor or other health professional?

A medical referral is not necessary if you are planning to pay privately. You may call or e-mail me directly to book an appointment.

If you are hoping to have fees paid by a 3rd party (WCB, ICBC, CVAP, company EAP), please call your plan provider or other contact (e.g., case manager) to inquire about your coverage and eligibility. A referral from your EAP company is necessary if you want sessions paid by them. EAP companies will call me once you contact them and request me. I will then call you to book an appointment within 24 hours.

Who do you provide services to?

I work with adults and teenagers in Victoria and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada.

Where are you located?

My counselling office is conveniently located in The Douglas Centre on Douglas Street in Victoria, BC. I can be reached by phone or email in order to schedule an appointment. Please visit the Contact page for more information.

How do I pay?

I accept cash, cheque, or e-transfer. A receipt will be provided following payment via email or in person, depending on preference.

I have more questions. How can I contact you?
